Youth/Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (ages 6 & up)

Our Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class focuses on ground techniques, self-defense, physical fitness and social skills in a fun and encouraging manner. Our kids/youth class helps to develop gross motor skills, cooperation and simple defensive skills as well as emphasize discipline and cooperation and develop self-confidence and awareness in our students.

During the class, students learn takedowns, chokes and its defense and also standing and on the ground submissions. At the end of this class, students participate in a sparring session where they will grapple with each other allowing the student to apply the techniques taught during the first half of the class. The classes are taught in a high energy, fun environment with an emphasis on physical fitness and discipline

Competition is also encouraged, but not required.

Basic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

The focal point of the beginner class is entirely on technique. The class focuses on learning and applying fundamental techniques of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. You will practice various techniques using a Gi (BJJ uniform). You will also learn and practice submissions, escapes, positioning and self-defense. The basic class is directed not only for the beginner but also for the more advanced students to sharpen basic techniques.

Adults Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

After a few weeks you have started the basic BJJ, you now are welcome to attend both the beginner class as well as the regular class. The regular BJJ class will vary each day. This class is designed for students interested in advanced techniques for competition and self-defense.

Students learn and practice advanced sweeps, submissions, escapes and counters, how to reverse an attacker and how to force their opponent into submission. Detailed instruction in technique, specific drilling, and position advancement are the main focus of this class as well as sparring or as we call it in BJJ, “rolling”.

Class duration: 60 min

No Gi Adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

This class is based on techniques of traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and the fundamental principles remain the same. Adjustments are made to compensate for the lack of a uniform to hold on to. In No Gi class you learn a whole new set of grips. The wrists, back of the neck, ankle, knee and elbow grips are all different than traditional Gi grips. Students learn takedowns, positions, transitions, escapes, reversals and how to apply and defend against joint locks, chokes and other submission holds.

Rashguard is required to attend class.
